Couple and Family Therapy

I find the dynamics within relationships fascinating even though the process is deep and intense. As each individual in the partnership grows and changes within their relationship so does the development of the relationship.

Open communication can become thwarted through strains in your relationship and simple skills and techniques combined with a renewed attitude can sometimes be the right antidote for you and your partner to arrive once again to a balance of respect, love and trust. Consider the effect of your first child together and what changes may take place for each of you.

The effect of life's difficulties on the family too can take its toll such as addiction, the loss of a loved one, the divorce or separation to sexuality concerns.

An example of this is when people living with an addiction, return home after treatment, in their early recovery period, and how their families now have to adapt to this changed and healthier individual. This new way of being for the once “addict of the family”, presents unforseen challenges experienced by each family member that comes as a result of this change. The possibilities of family group therapy in these cases, is such that it creates awareness and in turn, far more fulfilling relationships amongst members.

I hope to bring separated families together which can be both challenging yet rewarding. Families are free to express their feelings, perhaps fears, and thoughts with me as I can provide that safe place offering support and comfort quite separate to the 'home' environment.

Mediation is another valuable service provided to families and couples where issues can be negotiated towards workable and livable realities for everyone, including separation, reconciliation and divorce.
